Held under the theme “Books are a source of wisdom, Food for Thought,” the festival attracted nearly 300 booths at the Elysee Pavilion on Koh Pich from December 11 to 14. The event is organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and supporting partners.

Khieu Kanharith, former Information Minister and member of the Supreme Privy Council, said books are vital for personal development.

“Reading provides knowledge, builds character and helps people understand national and global events,” he said. “It equips individuals with the wisdom to shape their own destiny.”

Vorn Samphors, president of Aide et Action, said the fair provides an important platform for writers and readers to connect and exchange ideas.

He said books play a crucial role in helping people make informed decisions on economic, social and national issues.

At the fair, Aide et Actions spent $20,000 buying books, which will be placed in mobile libraries and distributed to refugee communities.

“When our people are strong, our nation is strong,” she said, urging more support for high-quality books written in the national language by experts in various fields.

Writer Ly Dara, who served on the fair’s media and communications team, said writers must continue to improve their craft to produce creative, high-quality books that educate and entertain people.

According to Hok Soth, a representative of the 2025 organizing committee, the fair is expected to attract more than 100,000 people this year.
