The programme involves a total funding of $1.8 million, with 63% coming from ActionAid and 37% from AEA/Action Education.
Vorn Samphors, the Country Director of Aide et Action Cambodia, said on Tuesday that this funding signifies a joint investment in Cambodia’s education sector. The main objective is to assist children from marginalised backgrounds and areas, ensuring that every child can access high-quality education.
He said that the funding will be used for building schools in underserved locations, providing educational materials and scholarships to disadvantaged families in remote areas, and offering training for teachers and community educators.
This comprehensive strategy is designed to ensure that every child receives a quality education within a nurturing setting.
Samphors noted that AEA is leading a Consortium for Out of School Children (CCOSC), which consists of 29 partners and covers 2,694 schools, targeting 116,396 newly enrolled OOSCs across Cambodia.
“ActionAid Cambodia and our partners value the partnership with Aide et Action. We hope this partnership will contribute to changing lives of the children in the community,” Mark Channsitha, Country Director of ActionAid Cambodia (AAC) said yesterday.
AAC will focus on the technical oversight of the education programme to improve the quality and relevance of learning and teaching by building school-community partnerships and ownerships and enrolling and retaining all OOSC in the target areas for a full course of primary schooling with good learning outcomes.
It will also concentrate on providing technical support for educational programmes to enhance the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning, which will be achieved by forming partnerships with local schools.
