Oung Borat, Ministry of Education Secretary of State, said the ministry was grateful to the NEP and all Ministry members for their cooperation in discussing policy and ways to create solutions that address challenges facing education in Cambodia.

He added the conference aims to find new policies and strategies with an aim to ensure equal access to educational services without leaving anyone behind, as mandated in the fourth Sustainable Development Goal 2030.

Borat said, “We must ensure our measures are put into practice at the local and school levels, an important factor that requires stakeholders to understand, participate, and improve the education sector more than before.”

Hun Boramey, NGO Education Partnership Board of Director and Organisation Committee, also said that Cambodia is showing a strong commitment to the principles of gender equality, to promote social inclusion, and to protect women and marginalised groups.

She added the government is prioritising the enrollment of girls in scholarship programmes to improve equitable access to education, student retention, and secondary school completion.

In the 2023-2024 academic school year, the net enrolment in primary education has reached an impressive 99.6% reflecting a significant 3.8% increase compared to the previous school year.

Vorn Samphors, the Country Director of Aide et Action Cambodia (AEA), said yesterday that he was very supportive of the 5th National Conference, noting, “I see that the transformation in the educational sector recently is improving, as the Ministry of Education is making efforts to reform learning programmes, school infrastructure and teaching pedagogy to promote the quality and efficiency of student learning.”
