Amid the rising unease caused by the border conflict, a quiet project is taking root on Cambodia’s coastline.
“Libraries in the Kampong Samaky community eco-resort are currently under construction,” says Action Education / Aide et Action (AEA) field officer, Rathana Sao. “They will be learning spaces for the community’s children, adults, visitors, and tourists alike.”

The project is a gentle act of hope: resilience against fear, against anxiety, against devastation.
These libraries are being built not just from wood and books, but from the community’s deep yearning for serenity and learning. At a time when the country is in turmoil, these spaces will offer something invaluable: stillness.
Breathe, Heal, Imagine Peace
Readers of all ages will step into an atmosphere designed for reflection. Here, dreams will be given room to breathe.
The design of the libraries honours the landscape—open, breezy, shaded by trees, and surrounded by the quiet resilience of the mangroves. The structures are simple, natural, and calm, encouraging those who enter to pause, listen, and think deeply.
These libraries will offer a peaceful place to grow.
In every corner of these spaces—among the books, cushions, sea breeze, and silence—there is a quiet kind of strength. A reminder that knowledge, like peace, is cultivated patiently. That even in difficult times, people can gather around stories and stillness.
And that a peaceful mind is not only powerful, but essential.
