Action Education / Aide et Action (AEA) participated in the first Cambodia EdTech Summit on 17-18 February 2025 in Phnom Penh. The event offered an opportunity to showcase our commitment to enhancing access to quality education through digital technology.
Organized by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS), the summit, held at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, brought together educators, technology innovators, and policymakers. Under the theme “Pathways to Cambodia’s Digital Education,” the event focused on accelerating the integration of technology-driven learning solutions in Cambodia’s schools.
As a GOLD Sponsor, AEA supported the event by providing LCD projectors to the top five winners of the EdTech Teacher Competition 2025 and offering an incentive fund to the fourth- and fifth-place winners. The summit also provided opportunities for discussions, exhibitions, and networking.
Co-Insights: The Transformative Power of Technology
As Cambodia embraces technological advancements in education, AEA remains dedicated to supporting teachers, educators, children, and youth through this digital transformation. Integrating technology into schools aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education) and 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
Technology holds the potential to deliver inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education for all. Integrating technology into the education system is crucial for preparing youth to thrive in a digital world.
AEA Country Director Samphors Vorn believes that adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems in teaching is a significant step for Cambodia. Technology can help teachers and students access more educational resources and improve learning.
However, Samphors Vorn reminded us of the key challenges that come with technology: “Having the ability to use AI is the most important point. This requires proper orientation for both teachers and students, as well as equipment to support students, especially in schools in remote rural areas.”
Co-Impacts? Looking Ahead
“We hope for contributions from all stakeholders to provide equipment and support the positive use of AI,” added Samphors Vorn. By investing in digital literacy and connectivity, we aim to create an innovative education system that provides equal opportunities for children and youth across Cambodia.
Digital literacy is essential for equipping future generations with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. By bridging the digital divide between the Global North and South, as well as between urban and rural areas in Cambodia, we can empower every child to thrive in a digital environment.
Together, let’s improve education and bridge gaps. Every child has the right to equal learning opportunities.
